NFIRS 5.0 Element: ‘Initial Level of Care’
Definition : The certified training level of the first fire department responder(s) to treat the patient.
Purpose : This element aids researchers in identifying trends of pre-hospital care delivered by the fire service. This information may also aid researchers in evaluating the effect of pre-hospital CPR and cardiac care on morbidity (or patient outcomes).

Entry : Check or mark the box that best describes the level of care the first responder was trained to provide as certified by the fire department or State.
