NFIRS 5.0 Module ‘Emergency Medical Service – Patient’

Description : For departments that provide emergency medical services. Provides report data for all medical incidents where primary patient care is provided. Can be used in conjunction with ‘Civilian Fire Casualty Module’ and ‘Fire Service Casualty Module’.

Emergency Medical Service – Patient Transactions

  • EMS Patient – ‘Provide details for EMS Patient Care’- Optional, at most 100000

EMS Patient Blocks

These blocks are collections of elements carried by the ‘EMS Patient’ transaction.

A Fire Department ID — Fire Department State — Incident (Alarm) Date — Incident Number (Identifier) — Exposure Number — Record Type/Transaction Code — Transaction Type (Add, Update, Delete)

C Arrived At Patient Date and Time — Patient Transfer Date and Time
D Provider Impression / Assessment
E1 Age
E2 Gender
F1 Race
F2 Ethnicity
G1 Human Factors
G2 Other Factors
H1 Body Sites of Injury
H2 Injury Types
H3 Cause of Illness/Injury
I Procedures Used
J Safety Equipment Used
K Pre or Post Arrival Arrest — Pre-Arrival Arrest Descriptors — Initial Arrest Rhythm
L1 Initial Level of Care
L2 Highest Level of Care
M Patient Status — Pulse on Transfer
